3D motion scanner is a new addition to the wide array of technologies used in dental office. It has proven to be an easier way of crown fabrication as compared to the conventional crown fabrication techniques.

This scanner makes a video of the teeth to be replaced and of all the surrounding structures. This data is displayed on the output device and a virtual replica of the data directly to the lab where the required crown is cut automatically with few computer inputs and related software. The earlier practices of crown fabrication were messy and time consuming while the newer practices involve quicker procedures with less chair time. This has improved the overall oral health and the in-office experience as well.

With the direct scanning of patient’s oral anatomy and instant fabrication of crown through computer aided technologies, the dental work can be delivered at the day of appointment leading to increased patient satisfaction. It also aids in patient’s education and improved dentist-patient communication.
